Coping with Thoughts and Feelings

A family member going missing can trigger an emotional rollercoaster for the family left behind. A variety of emotions, including sadness, loss and anger can all combine to leave family members confused and emotionally vulnerable.

Missing People has begun a pilot of a therapeutic intervention designed to meet the specific needs of families of missing people. These support programmes are taking place throughout the country. To find out more information, please contact lucy.holmes@missingpeople.org.uk

Missing people has a Family Connect forum for family and friends of missing people to support each other, share and get to know each other. To access the forum, please email jo.youle@missingpeople.org.uk for your invitation.

An Uncertain Hope is an overview of the theory, research and learning about how it feels for families when a loved one goes missing.

Whilst it was initially designed to be used by professionals working with families, it may also be useful to read if you find yourself in the situation of having someone close to you go missing.
